An Albuquerque veterinarian providing in home hospice and pet euthanasia services for dogs and cats, Peaceful Home Passings believes the comfort of your home is the best setting for end-of-life care for your pet. We proudly serve Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Corrales, Placitas and the East Mountains.

If you have a painful pet, the thought of putting him or her in the car to go to the vet is gut wrenching. The pain associated with lifting your four-legged family member into the car and driving across town, only to lift him out of the car again and cause more pain is a thought that no one likes to entertain. Maybe your pet gets very anxious at the veterinary clinic and the home setting is familiar and comfortable. Sometimes, just the thought of taking your best friend to the vet clinic and returning alone is enough to make your home the preferred setting for end-of-life care.

Whatever the case may be, we strive to make this transition as stress free as possible, giving you the information necessary to do what you feel is best for your pet. Our Albuquerque veterinarian offers non-biased information, realizing that we all have different beliefs, and together we can come up with a plan that suits your unique situation.

We begin every client relationship with a no charge, no obligation phone consultation so that we can understand your situation and if our services are what you are looking for. During this phone consultation we offer grievance support for you and your family, we discuss the available options for your pet’s care, and we decide how much time will be needed for your appointment. We are looking forward to meeting you and your pet!

  • Dear Dr. Kimberly, I don't even know how to thank you enough.  Words cannot begin to express how grateful I am to you for taking such good care of Baja.  It was your compassion, individual care, and remarkable dedication that enabled me to provide him the best care possible during the last few months of his life.  Your continued support and presence of mind made a stressful and worrisome time easier for me. I thought for sure I was going to lose him back in December until you worked a miracle!  I feel so blessed to have had an extra 7 months with him.  It takes a special person to be able to do your job day after day.  You truly are an angel on Earth.  Your guidance allowed me to end a life that was deeply important to me in a way that reflected my love for Baja.  Although my heart is broken and I miss him tremendously, I know he is in a good place and no longer suffering.  Thank you again for your selflessness and patience.  I am eternally grateful to you. Love, Baja and Nicole

Madeline

  • Dear Dr. Kimberly, We want to thank you for your compassion when euthanizing our beloved cat, Lapu. The loss of our cat has been so traumatic. We can't stop grieving. But we are so glad that the course of action of "putting our cat to sleep" was carried out by you. I've never encountered anyone so kindhearted. And thank you for the beautiful card, made particularly beautiful by your kind words. We are so grateful we found you, Dr. Kimberly. We think you are unmatchable in your ability to take an unendurable situation and infuse it with love and empathy, thereby making it more endurable. Please read our review about you. I think it sums up our feelings. Love, Wayne, Maxine, and Lapu (who is in heaven)

  • Dr. Lavin made our experience of having to have our dog put to sleep a loving, caring and calm environment for all of us. She has an easy demeanor. She came to our home and introduced herself to our dog in such a special way that our dog took immediately to her and they loved on each other. She took the time and interest in us, our dog and any special stories we had to tell. She explained the whole process and what to expect. No hurry at any step of the way. She allowed us to be as involved as we were comfortable. Afterwards, she arranged with and transported our dog to Best Friends Pet Cremation. That service is so helpful at such a time. A week later she returned our dog to us in a lovely urn. I highly recommend Dr. Lavin. She made a difficult moment better for us and I know for our beloved dog, too.

  • Dr. Kimberly: All I can really say is thank you so very much for all your support and understanding through Sarah's passing.  I cannot begin to explain how the little things… like remembering my name, Sarah's name and story, and the true concern as to Ryan and my life… it meant a lot at a time like this.  Thank you for validating my decision by letting me know the signs and symptoms of pain that Sarah was likely experiencing- it helped me know the time was right. Thank you for asking me to share Sarah's life adventures with you- it was the perfect closing.  Your care and compassion at a time like this meant the world to me. There are few people that you meet in this life that are doing exactly what they should be as far as a job is concerned- this planet is a better place because you are here and doing what you do. I wish you all the best with your home life and business- I hope all thrives for you- you certainly deserve a medal! May you always have the strength to be so supportive during others' times of such loss and grief. I send this with many, many hugs, Katie

  • Dear Dr. Lavin, We wanted to thank you for helping us with Emily's passing, which was peaceful, gentle, and all we wished for her. Emily was in the living room looking out the window where the sun was shining and the birds she loved were singing. You treated Emily with the kindness and respect she deserved, as if she were your own pet. We will always be grateful to you for calling us a few days later to see how we were doing - that meant so much during a very difficult time. Marilyn and Peter

  • Dear Dr. Kimberly~ Thank you from my heart for your professional, wholistic, trustworthy, kind, gentle, calm, compassionate, and loving care during this sacred time of Sweet Pea's transition. All in our household were totally supported by you during this loving time. You made such a difference in all of our journeys by bringing grace and ease during her time of leaving the form. It was so divinely beautiful and that is how I remember it. We are blessed to have your collaboration in Pea's transition. I watched Pea shoot out of her form, dancing in joy to be free and celebrating her time on Gaia, our time together and her reconnection with her Soul family and home abode. It was a most joyous event! Pea and I have been blessed with 17.5 years of joyful companionship, friendship, sharing in a deep love and celebration of life. There are so many beautiful, funny, loving memories that are etched deeply within my Soul for eternity. Gratitude for all of this and for her continued celebration and journey of her Soul remain. My love and a hug to you, Deb

  • Dear Dr. Kimberly, I just want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart for helping my dear Nico pass with dignity, peace, love and grace. We are thankful to have found you.
  • Dear Dr. Lavin, We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this difficult time possible to endure. Your compassion, kindness and understanding truly helped to ease some of our pain. Kody was our beloved family memeber and so very important to us. When you walked through the door and instantly Kody lavished one of his special kisses on your face, I knew then he was going to be okay. You see, Kody gave many kisses but never until he knew someone and never so instantly. I would like to believe he felt your gentle soul and knew you were there to help him, to make things easier for him. You will never know how much this meant to me…. Sincerely, Debbie
  • Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Kirby. You provide a much needed and appreciated service. -Lynnette
  • Dr. Lavin, Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and kindness towards Rami and me. Thank you for your skilled hands. She is not in pain anymore, and I am thankful for that. What a great dog she was – gentle and faithful and courageous. Oh, how she loved to play in the sprinkler and get a drink. Thank you, Nancy
  • Dear Dr. Kimberly, I wanted to let you know that I appreciate how you treated our wonderful lab and us. Your services were impeccable. I can't imagine Molly's transition going as well as it did anywhere else but home, and orchestrated by anyone more skilled, caring, and professional as you. It felt like Molly was being ushered into heaven via the rainbow bridge, and she was so comfortable, relaxed, and yielded herself to leaving home. I can't thank you enough. If only humans' passings could go as well as Molly's! I know she heard everything we said to her, and I will never forget the experience. I can say with certainty that Molly is romping in green meadows with her fellow doggie friends and all the wonderful animals we have been privileged to care for and be loved by. You can be sure I will recommend your services to anyone that I become aware could benefit from them. Sincerely, Leah Jennison, R.N., B.S.N., hospice nurse
  • I just wanted to take a minute and thank you so much for your compassion and helping Birch last night. I knew the time would come but thought he would go in his sleep. Your compassion towards Birch made it that much easier. Thank you Randy
  • Dr. Kimberly, We can never thank you enough for coming to the rescue of our sweet Shelby.  Your care and concern made this sad event a little more bearable.  If you ever need us in any way, we are willing to support your work.
  • Dr. Kimberly helped our beloved baby Maya pass peacefully a couple of days ago. Her caring and thoughtfulness made one of the worst moments of our lives almost bearable. It mattered to us so much that we were home with Maya dog. One never wishes to have to do what we had to do, but a moment comes when how we feel matters much less than saving our baby from the pain - and we were grateful to have Dr. Kimberly help Maya pass with dignity. A heartfelt thank you, Doctor!
  • Dr. Lavin, I can't begin to tell you how much we thank you for everything you did for us and on behalf of Nala.  Thank you for your kindness and respect.  We wish you continued success in your much needed business. Always, The Harris Family

  • Dr. Kimberly, I just had the opportunity visit your website and read your memorial for Missy and wanted to drop you a quick note thanking you for such a wonderful tribute to our pet. I couldn't have written a better memorial myself. Her time with us was too short but she had a good life - we'll miss her. Thank you so much for the kindness and empathy you gave during that difficult time. Sincerely, Jeff and Marsha

  • Dr. Kimberly, thank you so much for coming out to the house.  It was so nice to have the family there to say farewell to our girl. You are very good at what you do, which I know must be draining.  Your calming presence grounded all of us.  I can't believe what a difference being at home made.  It made this transition has been easier than I expected, but I will always miss her.  Thank you for your kindness during this difficult time.
  • Even though euthanasia was a hard decision, I am glad I chose Dr. Kimberly. She was very understanding, caring and compassionate.  She truly understood what we were going through.  By choosing the at-home-service Freddy was able to be comfortable in his bed and pass peacefully, under no stress of a clinic.  The two other cats were present and seemed to understand he would not come back.  Their grief has been minimal.
